As a member of the Halifax Regional School Board (HRSB), Oxford School receives funding from the provincial government to help run our school. This includes heat and electrical bills. This covers our basic expenses, and it’s up to us to raise the money we need to purchase extra technology and towards activities that will enhance the student programming at Oxford.
Our instructional budget is given to the school on a per pupil basis. Some of these expenses include, but are not limited to:
- Telephones in the building
- Photocopying costs (this is nearly half the amount in this account)
- Athletics programs
- Athletic costs such as replacing equipment, jerseys and referees
- Text books
- Special events such as Neptune Theatre (usually a loonie or toonie donation is requested however this only amounts to a quarter of what they really cost)
- Class trips
- Library books
No donation, no gift and no volunteer effort is too small and is greatly appreciated!
